Founding Story

ISITECH was founded on January 16, 2024, by Prof. Dr. İlkan Tatar, M.D., Ph.D., with a vision to develop innovative solutions for healthcare digitalization and advanced medical technologies. Based in Hacettepe Technopolis, ISITECH operates with a multidisciplinary approach that unites academic expertise with clinical insight and engineering excellence.
From its inception, the company has been driven by innovation, precision, and collaboration. By combining knowledge from medicine, artificial intelligence, and engineering, ISITECH has been created pioneering platforms such as Persanavi, NevSim-2, SpineSim3D, and NEURIDIAN — enabling surgeons to plan and perform critical procedures more safely and effectively.

Guided by the academic excellence and global experience of our advisors, our team combines scientific insight with practical innovation to deliver technologies that improve surgical precision and patient outcomes.

Prof. İlkan Tatar M.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Anatomy and a Neuroscientist at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine and a leading figure in neuroanatomy, surgical anatomy, and 3D anatomical modeling. He has conducted international research at the University of Washington, Wisconsin and South Carolina, authored over 125 SCI-indexed papers (H-index 28, 2000 citations), and supervised numerous PhD theses. As founder and former president of the Surgical Anatomy and Technologies Association, his academic focus spans neuroinflammation, brain–spinal cord modeling, micro CT research and medical education through simulation and 3D reconstruction.

İnci Katırcı is a Biomedical Engineer experienced in medical technology, quality management, and clinical process coordination. She has worked at Başkent University Hospital, gaining hands-on expertise in medical device maintenance, clinical support, and patient communication. At ISITECH, she contributes to TÜBİTAK 1501–1507 R&D projects, focusing on 3D reconstruction of radiological data to support surgical planning and on processing clinical datasets within 3D Slicer. Her goal is to bridge technology and healthcare by developing innovative biomedical and clinical workflow solutions.

Musa Çopur serves as R&D and Administrative Director at ISITECH. With over 20 years of experience, he has worked as a manager, expert, and consultant in numerous national and international projects. His expertise includes impact assessment, capacity analysis, mapping studies, and Project Cycle Management (PCM) for organizations such as TÜBİTAK, EU Delegation, UNICEF, and SIDA. A graduate of Karadeniz Technical University in Statistics and Computer Science, he holds an MBA from TOBB ETU and continues his PhD in Digital Media at Istanbul Commerce University. At ISITECH, he leads R&D project execution, commercialization, and administrative coordination processes.

Okan Olgun is an Artificial Intelligence Engineer at ISITECH, working in 3D U-Net, Swin-UNETR, and Transformer-based deep learning models for 3D segmentation. His work focuses on clinical data analysis and NLP-based medical text classification within TÜBİTAK 1501 and 1507 R&D projects. He also works on research in medical image processing, data science, and AI integration. A Computer Engineering graduate from TED University, Okan previously worked on data science projects at Mono Payments and TAM Finans. He also contributes to an international research project on the commercialization of digital technologies in energy systems, with responsibilities in analysis, market research, and coordination.

Sahin Hanalioglu, MD, PhD
Associate Professor is a faculty member at Hacettepe University Department of Neurosurgery. He has clinical and research experience at Harvard, Barrow Neurological Institute, and the University of Wisconsin, focusing on cerebrovascular and skull base surgery. His academic interests include neuroanatomy, neurovascular surgery, AI-assisted neuroimaging, and VR/AR-based surgical simulation systems. As an advisor and collaborator in multiple TÜBİTAK-funded projects, he contributes to the development of advanced 3D modeling and digital surgery planning technologies under ISITECH’s research initiatives.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Erhan Türkoğlu is a Professor of Neurosurgery at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. A graduate of Erciyes University School of Medicine, he completed his neurosurgery residency at Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital. He conducted advanced research in cerebrovascular, skull base, and neuroendovascular surgery at the University of Wisconsin (USA) and Sendai Kohnan Stroke Center (Japan). With over 55 international publications, Prof. Türkoğlu’s academic work focuses on neurovascular surgery, experimental neuroprotection, and innovative microsurgical techniques.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet İlkay Işıkay is a Neurosurgeon and faculty member at Hacettepe University Department of Neurosurgery. A graduate of Hacettepe University English Medical Program, he earned his Ph.D. in Advanced Neurological Sciences from the same institution. With over 5,000 neurosurgical operations performed, his expertise spans skull base, functional, and pediatric neurosurgery. Dr. Işıkay gained international clinical experience at Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland. His current academic focus includes 3D surgical planning, neuroimaging, and the integration of robotic and AI-assisted technologies into modern neurosurgical practice.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Balkan Şahin is a faculty member at the Department of Neurosurgery, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. He graduated from Eskişehir Science High School in 2003 and from Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2009. He has participated in advanced neuroanatomy programs at the University of Wisconsin (USA) and Koç University (Turkey).

His main field of clinical interest is spinal surgery. He currently serves as an executive board member of the Spinal and Peripheral Nerve Surgery Section of the Turkish Neurosurgical Society.

Dr. Şahin has authored and co-authored numerous national and international scientific publications, book chapters, and conference presentations in the field of neurosurgery.

Asst. Prof. Efecan Çekiç M.D. is a Neurosurgeon at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Neurosurgery. A graduate of Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, he completed his residency at Marmara University with a thesis on deep-learning-based brain tumor classification using MRI and intraoperative images. His clinical interests include skull-base and cerebrovascular microsurgery, while his research integrates artificial intelligence with neurosurgical imaging and planning. He has authored multiple SCI-indexed papers and presented at international congresses including EANS 2023 & 2024.
